The seventh annual conference of UPES entitled “Decarbonization of the energy sector” was held on 5 December at the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, with the aim of discussing key legal issues that bring energy sector reforms.
The conference consisted of two sessions, both focused on reforms in the energy sector:
- Decarbonization, investments in the energy sector and security of supply,
- International agreements and their compliance in the light of electricity trade.
Milica Pešterić moderated the panel entitled “International agreements and their compliance in the light of electricity trade”. Graham Coop, partner from Pinsent Masons law firm, Davor Pupovac, director of the Market Analysis and Risk Management Department at Elektroprivreda Serbia, Ljubin Popovski, director of “ČEZ-Serbia” and Mira Todorović Symeonides, partner at The Rokas Law Firm from Athens – participated at the panel.
Looking to the future, the energy law profession faces major challenges, and lawyers must innovate and experiment. Energy law needs to examine unexplored areas and devise key mechanisms to facilitate commercial investment.
